The effects of today‘s consumer society on the environment are omnipresent. Whether we experience them with our own senses and discuss them in everyday life, or whether we can follow the reports on them in the media day after day. They talk about climate change, the scarcity of resources or the littering of the seas. There are warnings about the consequences for health as well as economic and social ones. The call for a rethink has long been heard. The concept of the Anthropocene and with it the idea of a new age of the earth, decisively influenced by humanity, is booming. What role does art play in this context, which repeatedly claims to have a part in socially relevant debates such as this?
